Our Approach

At The Shoulder Joint you will be assessed and treated by a highly experienced, senior shoulder physiotherapist.

By only treating shoulders, our physiotherapists have spent many years building extensive clinical knowledge of all things shoulder related. When combined with evidence-based practice this allows us to provide clear clinical diagnoses and treatment plans for even the most complex shoulder problems.

At The Shoulder Joint we pride ourselves on taking an empathetic and individualised approach to treatments. Understanding the causes of shoulder pain is an important part of recovery so we take the time to educate patients and explain our assessment findings.

We work closely with GPs, Sports Physicians and Surgeons to encourage a multi-disciplinary approach and ensure timely and appropriate referrals and investigations when required.

Appointments

Our physiotherapists always spend an hour with patients for their first appointment.

We feel this longer initial assessment is important to ensure each patient has the time to explain what their problem is, how their injury is affecting them and what they want to get back to. It also allows our physiotherapists time to provide a detailed assessment. Getting the ‘full picture’ is key to choosing the right treatment options.

Some shoulder injuries are complex and may take a long time to recover from, often with significant impacts on a person’s work, sport and lifestyle. Our aim at The Shoulder Joint is that every patient leaves their first appointment with a solid understanding of the causes of their injury and what treatment is best able to help them.
